Have you struggled with finding rare items in Project Zomboid B42.20? Well, I might have a solution for you.
The humble trash can shall always provide! In Project Zomboid B42, garbage bags found in dumpsters or trash cans have insanely good loot. So, what can we actually find in the garbage in B42? Well, to go through every single item, would make this post very very long. But the image below will show a short selection of the huge variety you can find in garbage bags.
But to be brief and to the point. The most important items that can be found are sledgehammer heads, generator magazines, almost all tools, food, and quite a few books.These are super important items that you can just find in the garbage. Of course there is a lot of random worthless items as well, but ignoring the trash is ignoring some treasure. Though remember, there is more than just garbage bags to loot in Project Zomboid.
As a special trick, did you know you can actually forage the trash spawns to find very unique trash items? This can be a very useful trick to combine with the B42 map which shows set trash spawns, trailer parks always have a lot of these spawns!This also works with inside trash spawns which are random and mostly unpredictable. So next time you see a trash pile, consider turning on the foraging mode. But beware, if you pick up the trash piles, they will no longer be a foraging spot, but, fun fact: if you do wanna clean up these mean Knox County streets you can burn the trash for 15 minutes of burn time.
So to show how good this truly is, I decided to loot the entire city of Riverside and show you just how much you can truly find. I have separated this into 4 different categories which are: food, literature, weapons, and misc objects. You can see in the images below that the items we can find are crazy varied and some of them are quite rare!
Now, a character cannot survive entirely off garbage in my humble opinion, but I think you could survive a very very long time with the amount of food and supplies I got from just ONE town.
